The Lab

Here in our corner of the Karp Building, we primarily work in the field of angiogenesis.

We investigate the genetic control of angiogenesis as a means to find new targets to better understand and treat angiogenic-dependent conditions.  We have a focus on cancer as well as ocular diseases including age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and glaucoma. In addition, we continue to study thalidomide, its analogs and their mechanism of action in hope of improving their therapeutic value for cancer. The story of Dr. D'Amato's discovery of the anti-cancer activity of thalidomide is an interesting one and can be found in Dr. D'Amato's biography.
